Our Saviour’s intern program is designed to give students real life experience in ministry as a vocation. You will learn how a church operates on a daily basis. Interns work with the entire staff of the church; gaining exposure to many different aspects of ministry.
The following is a list of areas in which interns will spend time during their internship:
Vacation Bible School: Take a lead role in helping plan the Opening and Closing. VBS takes place a week in August.
Mission Trip: Act as an adult leader for our mission trip to Axtell, NB July 11-17, 2020.
Confirmation Camp: Attend Confirmation camp June 21-26, 2020 with Youth and Young Adult Ministries Coord..
Hospital/Shut in Visits: regularly with Pastor(s)
Worship-explore leadership roles during worship, such as: Children’s or adult sermon, lay reading, leading the liturgy, and music.
Other intern activities:include administrative and clerical work and staff and committee meetings.
EXPECTING THE UNEXPECTED
Overall, life at Our Saviour’s is exciting but can be very demanding as well. Interns are considered part of the OSLC team and, as such, must be flexible and able to switch from one project to another as needed.
Personal Appearance: a neat clean appearance is important in our work. Staff members need to maintain high standards in personal hygiene, neatness and cleanliness of attire.
Smoking Policy-smoking is not permitted within Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church or anywhere students are present.
Compensation-The summer ministry internship at Our Saviour’s is a paid internship. The intern will work an average of about 12 hours per week; hours worked will be flexible and mutually beneficial for the intern and the church.
